Covenant Keeping God

How to Trust in the Covenant Keeping God

God is not like humans who break their promises and forget their vows. God is faithful and true, who keeps His covenant and steadfast love with those who love Him and keep His commandments, to a thousand generations. God has made a covenant with His people through His Son, Jesus Christ, who died on the cross to pay for our sins and rose again to give us eternal life. God has sealed this covenant with His Holy Spirit, who lives in us and guides us into all truth. God is the covenant keeping God, who never leaves us nor forsakes us.
But how can we trust in the covenant keeping God when we face trials and troubles in this world? How can we hold on to His promises when we feel weak and weary? Here are some practical steps to help us trust in the covenant keeping God:
- Remember His past faithfulness. God has been faithful to His people throughout history, fulfilling His promises and delivering them from their enemies. He has also been faithful to us personally, providing for our needs and protecting us from harm. We can recall His past deeds and thank Him for His goodness.
- Read His word. God’s word is the source of His covenant and the revelation of His will. It contains His promises and instructions for us. It also reveals His character and nature, showing us that He is loving, merciful, gracious, holy, righteous, and sovereign. We can read His word daily and meditate on it, letting it renew our minds and transform our hearts.
- Pray to Him. Prayer is the way we communicate with God and express our dependence on Him. It is also the way we receive His grace and power to overcome our challenges. We can pray to Him in faith, believing that He hears us and answers us according to His will. We can also pray with others, joining our hearts and voices in agreement.
- Praise Him. Praise is the expression of our admiration and appreciation of God. It is also the weapon of our warfare, as it confuses the enemy and releases God’s presence and power in our lives. We can praise Him with our words and songs, declaring His greatness and goodness. We can also praise Him with our actions and deeds, obeying His commands and glorifying Him in all that we do.
God is the covenant keeping God, who never fails us nor disappoints us. He is worthy of our trust and devotion. Let us trust in Him with all our hearts and lean not on our own understanding. Let us acknowledge Him in all our ways and He will make our paths straight.
God’s covenant is not based on our performance or merit, but on His grace and mercy. He does not treat us as our sins deserve, but forgives us and cleanses us from all unrighteousness. He does not abandon us when we fail or fall, but restores us and strengthens us. He does not withhold any good thing from us, but lavishes us with every spiritual blessing in Christ. He is the covenant keeping God, who loves us with an everlasting love.
God’s covenant is also not limited by time or space, but extends to all generations and nations. He is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, who made a covenant with them and their descendants to be their God and to give them the land of Canaan. He is also the God of Israel, who made a covenant with them at Mount Sinai to be their God and to make them a holy nation. He is also the God of the church, who made a new covenant with us in Christ to be our God and to make us a royal priesthood. He is the covenant keeping God, who remembers His covenant forever.
God’s covenant is not only a promise, but also a partnership. He invites us to participate in His plan and purpose for the world. He calls us to be His witnesses and ambassadors, to share His gospel and love with others. He empowers us to be His co-workers and ministers, to serve His kingdom and glory with our gifts and talents. He expects us to be His faithful and obedient children, to follow His example and will in our lives. He is the covenant keeping God, who works with us and for us.
