Anele and Neliswa: From Idols to Gospel Singers

Anele and Neliswa Mxakaza are twin sisters who rose to fame after participating in the 2013 season of Idols South Africa. They impressed the judges and the viewers with their powerful voices and harmonies, but they were eliminated before reaching the top 10.

However, their musical journey did not end there. The twins decided to pursue a career in gospel music, inspired by their faith and their experiences with pastor Timothy Omotoso, who is currently on trial for rape and human trafficking charges.

The sisters lived in one of Omotoso’s homes for a year, where they witnessed his abuse of young women and were also subjected to his harassment. They managed to escape and returned to their mother’s home, where they found healing and support.

In an interview with SABC News, they said they want to spread the word of God through their music and help other victims of sexual violence. They have released several songs on YouTube, such as Zikhala Amawa, Take Me Back, and Bomi Endibaziyo.

Anele and Neliswa are not the only ones who have spoken out against Omotoso and his church. Cheryl Zondi, a former member of the Jesus Dominion International church, testified in court that Omotoso raped her multiple times when she was a teenager. She also said that he controlled the lives of the women who lived with him and threatened them with violence if they disobeyed him.

Zondi’s testimony sparked a wave of support and admiration from the public, who praised her for her courage and resilience. She also inspired other women to come forward and share their stories of abuse by Omotoso. The trial has been ongoing since 2017 and has faced several delays and challenges.

Anele and Neliswa have expressed their solidarity with Zondi and the other survivors. They said they were not surprised by the allegations, as they had witnessed them firsthand. They also said they were afraid to speak out before, but now they feel free to tell the truth.

The twins hope that their music will reach other people who have suffered from sexual violence and help them heal. They also want to use their platform to raise awareness and advocate for justice. They believe that God has a plan for their lives and that He will use them for His glory.

Anele and Neliswa have also faced some challenges and backlash after speaking out against Omotoso. They said they have received death threats and insults from some of his supporters, who accuse them of lying and betraying him. They also said they have lost some friends and family members who still follow Omotoso and his church.

However, the twins said they are not afraid and they will not be silenced. They said they have God on their side and they trust Him to protect them and guide them. They also said they have received a lot of love and encouragement from their fans and other people who appreciate their music and their message.

Anele and Neliswa are currently working on their debut album, which they hope to release soon. They said they want to share their story and their faith with the world through their songs. They also said they want to collaborate with other gospel artists and explore different genres and styles.

The twins have come a long way since their Idols audition in 2013. They have overcome many obstacles and hardships, but they have also grown stronger and wiser. They have found their purpose and their passion in music and in God. They are an inspiration to many people who have faced similar situations or who are looking for hope and healing.
