How to use HexCmp2?
Using HexCmp2 is very easy and intuitive. You can start by opening two files that you want to compare or edit. You can do this by clicking on the File menu and choosing Open Left File and Open Right File, or by dragging and dropping the files into the HexCmp2 window. You can also use the command line parameters to open the files.
Once you have opened the files, you will see them displayed in two panels, with the hex values on the left and the text values on the right. You can scroll both panels synchronously or independently, using the mouse wheel or the scroll bars. You can also use the Go To function to jump to a specific offset or address in the files.
You will notice that HexCmp2 uses different colors to highlight the differences or similarities between the files. By default, red means different, green means equal, and blue means only in one file. You can change these colors by clicking on the Options menu and choosing Colors.
If you want to compare only a part of the files, you can select a block of data in one panel and click on the Compare menu and choose Compare Selected Blocks. This will compare only the selected blocks and ignore the rest of the files. You can also use the Compare menu to compare files as text or as binary raw.
If you want to edit or modify your files, you can switch to the hex editor mode by clicking on the Edit menu and choosing Edit Mode. This will allow you to make changes to your files in a hex mode. You can use the keyboard or the mouse to enter or delete hex values. You can also use the Edit menu to copy, paste, undo, redo, fill, insert or delete data.
If you want to search for a specific string in your files, you can click on the Search menu and choose Find. This will open a dialog box where you can enter the string that you want to find as a hex or as a text. You can also use regular expressions for more advanced search options. You can use the Search menu to find next, find previous, replace or replace all occurrences of your string.
If you want to see more information about your files or your cursor position, you can click on the View menu and choose Info Panel. This will show you a panel at the bottom of the window where you can see the file information and the cursor point value in different formats, such as char, byte, word and dword. You can also switch between hex and text formats by clicking on the View menu and choosing Text Mode.
