Fast & Furious: The Return of the Original Cast

Fast & Furious (2009) is the fourth installment in the popular action film franchise that features street racing, car chases, and heists. It is also the first film to reunite the original cast members from the first film, The Fast and the Furious (2001), namely Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez, and Jordana Brewster.

The film follows Dominic Toretto (Diesel), a fugitive ex-convict who teams up with his former rival, FBI agent Brian O’Conner (Walker), to bring down a drug lord named Arturo Braga (John Ortiz). Along the way, they have to deal with the death of Dom’s girlfriend Letty (Rodriguez), who was working undercover for Brian, and the betrayal of one of Braga’s associates, Fenix (Laz Alonso).

Fast & Furious was directed by Justin Lin, who also helmed the previous film, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006). The film was written by Chris Morgan, who also wrote Tokyo Drift and would go on to write the subsequent films in the series. The film was produced by Neal H. Moritz, Vin Diesel, and Michael Fottrell.

The film was a commercial success, grossing over $360 million worldwide on a budget of $85 million. It also received mixed reviews from critics, who praised the action sequences and the chemistry between Diesel and Walker, but criticized the plot and the dialogue. The film was followed by Fast Five (2011), which introduced Dwayne Johnson and Tyrese Gibson to the franchise.

The next film in the series, Fast Five (2011), takes the action to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where Dom and Brian are on the run from both the law and a ruthless drug lord. They assemble a team of former allies and rivals to pull off a daring heist that could secure their freedom and fortune.

Fast Five was directed by Justin Lin, who returned for his third film in the franchise. The film also introduced Dwayne Johnson as Luke Hobbs, a relentless federal agent who pursues Dom and Brian across the globe. The film also featured Tyrese Gibson and Chris \”Ludacris\” Bridges as Roman Pearce and Tej Parker, who previously appeared in 2 Fast 2 Furious (2003).

Fast Five was a critical and commercial success, earning rave reviews for its thrilling action sequences, humorous banter, and charismatic ensemble cast. The film grossed over $626 million worldwide, becoming the highest-grossing film in the franchise at the time. The film also set several box office records for Universal Pictures, such as the highest-grossing opening weekend in several international markets.

The seventh film in the series, Furious 7 (2015), continues the story of Dom and Brian as they face a new enemy, Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham), the older brother of Owen Shaw (Luke Evans), whom they defeated in the previous film. Deckard vows to avenge his brother by killing Dom and his family one by one.

Furious 7 was directed by James Wan, who took over from Justin Lin after he decided to leave the franchise. The film also marked the final appearance of Paul Walker, who died in a car accident on November 30, 2013, before the film was completed. His remaining scenes were finished using his brothers Caleb and Cody as stand-ins, and CGI to recreate his likeness.

Furious 7 was a critical and commercial success, earning universal acclaim for its action sequences, emotional tribute to Walker, and performances of the cast. The film grossed over $1.5 billion worldwide, becoming the highest-grossing film in the franchise, the highest-grossing film of 2015, and the tenth-highest-grossing film of all time.
