How to Use Google Meet for Online Meetings and Collaboration

What is Google Meet?
Google Meet is a web-based application that allows you to create or join video calls with up to 250 participants. You can also share your screen, chat with others, and record your meetings. Google Meet is part of Google Workspace, which includes other productivity apps like Gmail, Drive, Docs, and Calendar. You can access Google Meet from any device with a web browser or download the app for Android or iOS.
How to Create a Google Meet Meeting
To create a Google Meet meeting, you need to have a Google account. If you don’t have one, you can sign up for free here. Once you have a Google account, follow these steps to create a meeting:
Click on the New meeting button on the top right corner.
You will see three options: Create a meeting for later, Start an instant meeting, or Schedule in Google Calendar. Choose the option that suits your needs.
If you choose Create a meeting for later, you will get a meeting link that you can copy and share with others. You can also add the meeting to your Google Calendar or Gmail.
If you choose Start an instant meeting, you will join the meeting right away. You can then invite others by clicking on the Add people button at the bottom right corner. You can either copy the joining info and send it to others or enter their email addresses and click Send invite.
If you choose Schedule in Google Calendar, you will be redirected to your Google Calendar where you can set the date, time, and details of your meeting. You can also add guests, attach files, and set notifications. Click on Save when you are done.
How to Join a Google Meet Meeting
To join a Google Meet meeting, you need to have the meeting link or code. You can get it from the person who created the meeting or from your email or calendar invitation. Once you have the link or code, follow these steps to join the meeting:
If you have the meeting link, paste it in your browser’s address bar and press enter. If you have the meeting code, enter it in the Enter a code or link box and click Join.
You will see a preview of your camera and microphone. You can adjust them by clicking on the settings icon at the bottom right corner. You can also turn them off by clicking on the icons at the bottom center.
Click on Ask to join. The host of the meeting will see your request and either admit you or deny you.
Once you are admitted, you will see the other participants on the screen. You can also see the chat window on the right side and the options menu at the bottom center.
How to Use Google Meet Features
Google Meet offers various features that enhance your online meeting experience. Here are some of them:
